Citizens’ Assembly on Brexit
The United Kingdom has voted to leave the EU, and the process of leaving has now begun. There has been little public debate, however, about what form of Brexit the country should be seeking. The referendum campaign, the Article 50 debate and the recent general election campaign have thrown up highly contrasting views on this issue. The Citizens’ Assembly on Brexit was designed to allow deep and reflective public discussion of the options, aiming to conclude with recommendations on the type of Brexit that the UK should pursue.
